FAQ - Breast Surgery

If I need a biopsy, can it be done in the office?

Many biopsies can be done in the office, including those done for palpable lesions (those that can be felt) and those done with Ultrasound Guidance. Open Surgical Biopsies and Stereotactic Core Biopsies are done in the hospital on a Same Day Surgery/Ambulatory basis.

How long does it take to get my biopsy results?

Most biopsy results are available in 24-48 hours unless your Insurance/HMO requires the specimen to be sent to an outside participating lab. The doctor will call you as soon as the results are available.

Montclair Surgical Assoc. is a group practice. Will the same doctor follow me throughout my treatment?

Absolutely! Continuity of care and personal attention is first and foremost in our practice. However, on occasions when your doctor is not available, any one of the partners will see you in his/her stead.

If I need reconstruction, do the doctors at MSA perform this?

If reconstruction is necessary, the doctors work as a team with Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons who have extensive training and experience in breast surgery.
