AREAS OF EXPERTISE
 |
Breast Surgery - Surgeons at
Montclair Surgical Associates are versed in the newest and most sophisticated techniques available for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Biopsies can often be done under ultrasound guidance on the patient's initial visit, thus minimizing the wait for a definitive diagnosis and treatment. Stereotactic biopsy and sentinel node mapping
are available as needed. Our goal is to deal with the breast patient's disease expeditiously and compassionately.

Laparoscopic Surgery
- This minimally invasive surgical technique has been used
by our surgeons since its introduction in 1990. For appropriately selected cases the laparoscopic approach results in less discomfort and pain, utilizes smaller incisions producing less scarring and shortens hospital stay. It has become the gold standard in gall bladder and GERD surgery, and can be useful in hernia repairs, appendectomy and colon surgery.

Weight
loss surgery, also called gastric bypass, is a major
operation that reduces the stomach to a small pouch to
decrease the amount of food the stomach can physically hold.
At the same time, the small intestine is reconfigured
so that food bypasses the first and second segment of it to
reduce the calories the body can absorb.
Clearly, this is not for everyone, but for those that
undergo this surgery, it is a life transforming experience.
Unlike any diet or drug treatment, the surgery can result in
significant weight loss of 100 pounds or more. Also, morbidly
obese people tend to have other medical conditions as a result
of their obesity including diabetes, heart disease, high blood
pressure and respiratory problems.
Many of these conditions are cured or come under
control once a person gets their weight under control. |
